ATSAM3 Cortex-M3 MCUs
With the SAM3U Cortex-M3 family, ATMEL have introduced new peripherals such as High-Speed USB, 12-bit ADC and high-speed flashcard interface. These and further families can be clocked up to 96 MHz and can operate from 1.62V up to 3.6V, making them very applicable for battery driven applications.
Atmel uses ARM Cortex-M3 Rev 2 core with MPU (Memory Protection Unit).
Like all SAM MCUs, the embedded SAM_BA Boot ROM enables communication via USB or UART to your PC, to flash a virgin SAM MCU without using any additional toolchain.
AT91SAM3 Cortex-M3 Flash Families:
- Up to 256K Flash, 48K SRAM
- 12-bit ADC&DAC, QDEC, EBI, Motor PWM, 48/64/100 QFP/QFN/BGA.
- SAM3S is pin compatible with AT91SAM7S giving an ideal upgrade path for existing AT91SAM7S designs.
- Up to 256K Flash, 52K SRAM
- Hi Speed (480Mbps) USB Device, 12-bit 1Mbps ADC, Motor PWM,
- Hi Speed Flash Card Interfaces (MCI) , Ext. Businterface, 100/144 LQFP/BGA
In the near future Atmel will introduce following Cortex-M3 families:
ATSAM3N:
- Entry level Cortex-M3 MCU,
- Up to 256K Flash, 24 K SRAM,
- low cost, no USB, 48/64/100 QFP/QFN/BGA
ATSAM3X:
- Up to 512K Flash, 96K SRAM
- 2 x CAN, Ethernet, HS USB OTG, 12-bit ADC&DAC, Motor PWM, EBI, 100/144/208 QFP/BGA
- ATSAM3X is an upgrade path for existing AT91SAM7X designs.
ATSAM3A:
- Up to 512K Flash, 96K SRAM
- 2 x CAN, HS USB OTG, 12-bit ADC&DAC, Motor PWM,100 QFP/BGA
- ATSAM3A is an upgrade path for existing SAM7A1 or SAM7A3 designs.
